Wear clothes that accentuate your shoulders/bust
Draw attention away from:
- your waist – do not wear belts or contrast lines near your waist line, straight-leg or skinny pants
- shoulders/arms – wear long sleeves
Do not wear:
- necklines that make you broader on top, boat neck or bardot, big straps, halterneck tops, big shawl collars
- styles that extend or accentuate shoulders e.g. details, volume, attraction on your shoulders, puff sleeves, shoulder pads
- tops or scarves with paterns
Draw attention to your
- bust and neck – V neck tops
- legs – flared pants over
- legs – wear bottoms just below your hips
Do not wear narrowing lines e.g. pencil skirts or skinny jeans
- patterns, prints and details show be on the bottom third of your body
- wear loose tops
- darker colors
Wear clothing and accessories that increase your shoulder and/or bust area.
- draw attention to your upper body – wear:
- tops that accentuate your shoulders a bit more
- wear straight-leg or slightly flared pants with heels
Draw attention away from your lower body. Try to avoid:
- skinny pants that hug your ankles pants
- tights that narrow your legs
- consider a bra that adds to or enhance your bust
- flared pants can make your legs look very thick
Wear clothing that create curves.
- draw attention to your waist:
- add a belt or sash to your dress
- have the light colored top tucked into a darker skirt
- increase the shoulders and waist
Draw attention away from the straightness by not:
- using baggy style clothing
- boxy jackets or coats as well double breasted coats and jackets
- using loose fitting clothing that “hangs”
- having straight lines from top to toe e.g. straight jacket with straight trousers or with a pencil skirt
Avoid anything that makes you look “boxy”
Draw attention to your waist by wearing:
- clothes and accessories that conform to your body
- tailored clothing
- belts or dresses that come in at the waist
Avoid wearing:
- shapeless or loose clothing
- clothes that show too much bust through too deep a neckline
